Individual Therapy
in Fairfax County, Virginia
You don’t have to handle your problems alone. Let’s make a plan together for you to achieve your goals.
You need a different way to live your life. You used to function at a certain level but have noticed a change. It seems as though everything in your life is being impacted- work, school, relationships, and even your confidence and sense of self.
Perhaps you’ve had friends or family tell you that it’s time for therapy. Although it is hard to admit, you know they’re right… and you hope therapy could truly help.
I’m Jennie McKinney, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 30 years experience, and I have helped many clients just like you to transform their lives. If you have specific goals you want to achieve in therapy and the willingness to do the work to achieve them, I would be honored to help.
Here are some of the issues that I commonly help individuals address in therapy:
Recovering from trauma and abusive/negative relationships
Handling problems in a current relationship but you’re unsure about couples therapy
Healing after a bad breakup or divorce (and changing patterns so it doesn’t happen again)
Parenting struggles and wanting to connect with and support your children better
Feelings of depression or anxiety that are negatively impacting your life
Reduced productivity at work and struggling to perform optimally
Difficulty adjusting to college, and potentially a drop in grades
Learning coping strategies for adult ADHD (school and/or work)
Improving self-esteem and general coping skills
Making major life decisions and adjusting to major life changes
Dealing with a family member who has addiction or a significant mental health issue
Difficulty regulating emotions or controlling anger
COVID-19 stress and adapting to a new environment
All of these problems can feel overwhelming and it may feel like a solution is impossible, but with a clear plan, research-backed knowledge, and expert support, it is possible to make changes and achieve your goals.
